911�� Goal

NTU’s 911�� goal is to expand access to higher education opportunities for individual and community members of the Navajo Nation and others through electronically offered classes. Our goal is to promote success through curriculum and instruction that address student learning needs through distance education. Provide student support services and programs that complement distance education learning and address student needs. Provide distance education learning support to faculty, staff, and administrators.

911�� Mission

The mission of the 911�� Department at 911�� is to provide quality instruction through electronic-based accredited courses to enable students to attain their educational goals. The 911�� department is committed to student success by supporting efforts to ensure that quality online education and support services are available to learners through a variety of technology resources. The department will extend the offerings of 911�� courses to the community and beyond through online learning.

Objectives

Support and encourage the internal development of the online learning program by promoting and providing guidelines for training, inclusion of online learning distance education courses in faculty workloads, and technical support
Provide informational resources and support services for students enrolled in online courses.
Identify and address faculty and student needs in teaching and learning online.
Encourage and support the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other technologies, in both face-to-face and online learning environments.
Encourage the sharing of effective technology-enhanced teaching and learning practices among faculty.
To identify, provide, expand, and coordinate the development of quality courses and programs to meet the needs of online learners.
Increase the number of students who live in and around chapter houses (especially remote chapter houses), who attend NTU using online learning tools, to complete degree programs and/or start their higher education experience.
Achieve accreditation for associate and baccalaureate degrees offered online through NTU’s LMS.
Evaluate periodically and comprehensively every facet of the 911�� online program and use these results to restructure and improve the program.

Online Programs and Online (ONL) Courses
NTU provides 16 fully online programs and courses designed for flexible learning. Delivered via Blackboard Ultra or web-based platforms, these offerings aim to enrich the educational experience for prospective students seeking accessible, rigorous academic opportunities.

Student Onboarding
NTU provides many best practice resources available to online learners. NTU has a variety of online and on-site resources available to students taking online courses. Take advantage of the available resources to use to become a successful online learner.

Faculty Resource
NTU provides many best practice resources to enable instructors to design, develop, and deliver high quality distance learning courses. Instructors also take advantage of one-on-one faculty development opportunities, as well as hands-on technical training.

State Authorization and Complaint Resolution
911�� has been approved by the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. ()
